Particle Programming via OTAP (Over The Air Programming)

Please see our Particle How-To page for an overview as well.

First, start the Particle Analyzer. You will be presented the graphical user interface of the Particle Analyzer. Now, press 'Scan Network' to search for particle. If particle are found, the will be listed with their ID in the lower right window region.

It is reported that on some computers the 'Scan Network' does not report any particle. You can then use the program APS Config to search for particle. In the picture below, the APS Config reported a particle with ID '2.229.42.149.0.0.0.0'.

For tracking this particle in the Particle Analyzer, enter the ID (2.229.42.149.0.0.0.0 in our example) in the empty field left of the button 'Add manually'. Click on 'Add manually' to confirm.

After having listed one ore more particle, you can program them over the air (so called OTAP, over the air programming). To program a particle, select the particle from the list and click on 'Program particle'.

Now select a program binary (HEX file) from your particle applications. After confirming you will be presented a status window.

If everything goes well, after a (not so short) time (compared to 'normal' programming with e.g. a ICD-U or a MPLAB ICD2), you will be presented the result of the OTAP. It should look like this:

You can now go to the 'Console' tab of the Particle Analyzer an select the data you are interested in tracing or visualizing.

After configuring the types and byte sizes of the data of interest, click on the 'Scope' tab. Click on the 'Start' button for starting the trace.

You can save captured diagram by clicking on the 'Save diagram' button.
