LMU Munich is consistently the top-ranked university in Germany, with a strong human-computer interaction and media informatics group. He won the <strong>ACM SIGCHI Academy award<\/strong> in 2018. Since 2020, He is a member of Leopoldina (Nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften), and in 2023 he <strong>was elected ACM Fellow<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>He has been a professor at multiple universities in Germany, such as the University of Stuttgart, the University of Duisburg-Essen, the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS), and the B-IT center at the University of Bonn. He has also worked for Microsoft Research in Cambridge (UK) and the Engineering Department at the University of Cambridge in the UK.<br><br>He has chaired some of the major conferences in human-computer interaction and ubiquitous computing, including technical program chair for <strong>ACM SIGCHI 2014<\/strong> (the largest scientific conference on human-computer interaction with more than 3,000 participants), general chair for <strong>ACM UIST 2018,<\/strong> program chair for<strong> IEEE Percom 2012, <\/strong>conference co-chair (2013), program co-chair (2011) of the <strong>ACM MobileHCI <\/strong>conference, and general chair for <strong>AutomotiveUI 2009<\/strong>. Since 2016, I have been on the editorial board of the <strong>ACM TOCHI<\/strong> journal.
