Call for Participation

This hybrid workshop, part of the CHI 2024 conference, aims to bring together a diverse group of scholars, researchers, and practitioners to contribute to the evolving field of HCI and human-AI interaction. We encourage participation in the following ways.

1. Position Papers on Evaluating Human-AI Interaction

We invite submissions of position papers investigating and improving evaluation methods for human-AI interaction and AI in HCI in general.

Topics may include but are not limited to,

  • human-centered evaluation of methods of AI
  • empirical studies investigating the impact of AI
  • critical analyses of current evaluation methodologies in human-AI research

2. Propositions to Measure, Control, and Mitigate User Expectations and Placebo Effects in Human-AI Interaction

We invite submissions of position papers that investigate the complexities of expectations and placebo effects within the context of HCI. These papers should provide insights, analysis, and discussions on how these phenomena impact HCI and AI research and practice.

Topics may include but are not limited to,

  • theoretical explorations of placebo effects in HCI
  • empirical studies investigating the impact of user expectations in human-AI studies
  • critical analyses of current methodologies in HCI research concerning placebo influences.

3. Attendance for Learning and Engagement

For those interested in enhancing their understanding of the current state of the art in HCI and the impacts of expectations and placebo effects, we offer a rich program of lectures, discussions, and interactive sessions. Attendance for Learning and Engagement does not require position papers but does require you to register in EasyChair.

Important Dates:

  • Submission Deadline for Position Papers and Propositions: February 22nd February 29th
  • Notification of Acceptance: March 7th, 2024
  • Camera Ready Deadline: March 14th, 2024
