9:20-10:20Workshop Submission PresentationsLightning Talks — Each presenter has 2 minutes to present a lightning talk based on the vision and grand challenge they submitted.
10:20-11:00Coffee BreakWe encourage attendees to move around the venue or outside.
11:00-11:15Group FormationInitial Probe — Organizers pre-place topics of interest (based on submissions and lightning talks) in each corner of the room, with blank spaces for attendees to place additional topics of interest.
(1) Attendees move to all the topics and add thoughts to each via sticky notes.
(2) Attendees form groups at their topics of interest.
(3) Group discussions based on probing questions at each topic.
11:15-12:20Group Work on Evil OfficeAdversarial Method: Storyboarding the “evil office of 2040” Based on insights from the initial group discussions, each group creates visual representations of user journeys using drawings, photos, AI-generated images. Emphasis on both the roles of and interplay between technology, policies, and norms
12:20-14:00LunchWe will head to a green space for a group picnic and discussions. We provide a pre-organized option for food at the participant’s own expense.
14:00-14:30Discussions-in-Motion on EthicsPhysically Active Method: Nature Move & Talk — Small groups go for a journey outside (if possible) to discuss ethical considerations related to designing the future workplace. We will provide probing questions to stimulate the discussions
14:30-15:20Integrating Results of Group Work Part 1The groups bring together learnings from the day’s discussions to identify challenges, stakeholders, and ways forward. In preparation for the final discussion, the groups develop:
(1) Research agenda
(2) Recommendations for practice
15:20-16:00Coffee BreakWe encourage attendees to move around the venue or outside.
16:00-16:45Integrating Results of Group Work Part 2We bring the groups together for a moderated discussion to develop tangible outcomes for research and industry. We will create a draft of:
Research Agenda – We aim to find common themes to create a research agenda for workplace wellbeing that tackles the most pressing problems.
Recommendations for Practice – We will develop actionable recommendations for industry based on discussions between researchers and industry practitioners
16:45-17:00Closing
20:00Group Dinner (optional)We will invite participants to an optional (self-paid) post-event networking dinner to continue discussions started during the workshop
